He was distinguished freedom fighter and follower of MK Gandhi. He was made education minister in the first cabinet after 1947. He opposed creation of Pakistan and tried his best to prevent bifurcation of Indian sub continent. He wrote memory's that were opened only after his death.Obviously he did not have the courage to openly tell his feelings to the world when he was alive regarding Partition of sub continent and issues of freedom struggle, and his opinions about various personalities. Of course when the contents were revealed after. His death there was no public reaction and soon it was forgotten .
