KASIM RAZVI DESERVED CAPITAL PUNISHMENT
DR K Prabhakar Rao
September 17/18 every year in the Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh are very important. They are also associated with rise of passions . In recent times, it has become more important with the strong demand for a Telangana state bifurcating AP. On this day the regime of Mir Osman Ali Khan Asif Jah Bahadur, Fateh Jung, the Nizam 7 of Hyderabad state laid down his power when his much glorified army and Razakars ( volunteers) surrendered to the Indian Army that invaded the state in 1948. The Hyderabad state was merged with Indian union and the rule of the Nizam was annulled. Asif jahi dynasty was established by Qamruddin Chin Khilji khan the Mughal governor in Deccan who was appointed as Subedar by Mughal emperor Mohammed Shah (Rangila) in 18 century. By this , Mughals at Delhi lost most of their provinces and lost authority too Marathas were dominating under Peshwa rule from Pune. The Asif Jha dynasty produced seven regular and recognized rulers. They were Qamruddin Chin khilij Khan , Nizam ali, Nasir ud dula, Sikandar Jha,Afzal ud daula, Mahboob Ali Khan and Osman Ali Khan The last ruler was Mir Osman Ali Khan who was removed after Police action by Indian army in 1948.
When India gained independence, all most all the regional princely states merged with Indian union, except Junagarh, Kashmir and Hyderabad. The English men gave an option to the rulers that either they could merge with Pakistan or India or remained independent. Kashmir was invaded by Pakistan tribals and regular army immediately after independence and they were repulsed by Indian army and the forces of Jammu state. The maharaja of Kashmir signed the document of accession to India and Kashmir became part of India. India regained all the areas except Gilgit and Hunza and these areas too were also about to fall to India when Jawaharlal Nehru the much over glorified Prime minister declared ceasefire and referred the matter to UNO ( an incompetent world body), an absolute foolish step and it has been proved beyond doubt over the years. India even today is struggling due to this lack lustre decision and Nehru left a permanent cancer to India to bleed and suffer. Referendum was held in Junagarh and it was taken over by India while the Nawab of Junagarh ran away to Pakistan. Hyderabad remained a pain the ass for as Nizam 7 decided to stay independent. Pleas of n union fell on deaf ears at Hyderabad.
Hyderabad state at that time consisted areas of Telangana ( Mostly Telugu and Urdu speaking people), Marathwada (consisting of Kannda and Marathi speaking people). The districts were:
a. Telangana
Medak, Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Mahboob nagar, Adilabad, Khammam met, Nalgonda, Warangal, Atraf balda ( surrounding Hyderabad city) (9)
b. Marthwada.
Bidar, Beed, Aurangabad, Osmanabad, Gulbarga, Raichur, Nanded, Parbhani ( 8),
Nizams decision to remain independent was not accepted by the Indian union and Nizam slowly tried to build up his army for confrontation and he came under the influence of Kasim Razvi the chief of Majlis Ittehad muslimeen ( MIM ), the fundamentalist Islamic party. Razvi encourage the affected Mulsim of partition to settein Hyderabad. These at a later stage became Hindu haters.
Kasim Razvi hailed from UP state and was a lawyer by profession at Latur in Osmanabad district and he joined MIM. Bahadur yar jung was the president of MIM and after the untimely death of him Razvi became its President in 1946. His influence over Nizam was complete. He was totally a fundamentalist to the core and organized a volunteer force named Razakars in the state. Every Razakar had to take a oath that he would die for Islam. This force was armed with al facilities and was given military training. They were tutored in to Hindu tirade. Razvi ensured that Sir Mirza Ismail a moderate PM of Hyderabad state was hounded out of the state. Similarly Nawab of Chattari who came to Hyderabad for a second term as PM was hounded out. In 1948 Razvi imposed a new government in Hyderabad under Laik Ali the PM. With the help of Razakars terror was let loose on Hindu population in the state. Villages were burnt, scores of men and children were killed, and women were raped in public in large numbers in the state. Dacoities were committed with connivance of Nizam’s police and Hyderabad army. Razakars were fully abetted by Police Chief Deen yar Jung. Shoibullah Khan the young editor of daily Imroz who condemned Nizams government was brutally murdered by Razakars. It was believed that Kasim Razvi was behind the plot. Kasim Razvi assumed title Field Marshal of Razkar forces. Kasim Razvi even proclaimed that Asifia flag would be unfurled on Red ort at Delhi and that waters of Bay of Bengal would wash the feet of Mir Osman ali Khan.. Nizam was a puppet in his hands and in all aspects he abdicated his responsibility towards his subjects. He became blind under the passion of remaining independent. Thus Nizam lost his moral authority to rule the state as a king. Destiny was waiting to strike at right moment. All appeals from Indian union to restrain Razkars fell on deaf ears and action was contemplated by Indian union.
Sardar Vallabhai was the Deputy Prime Minister at Delhi and it is well known now that Jawaharlal Nehru the PM was not in favor of invasion of Hyderabad state. But Asi Jha’s rule was coming to an end. Destiny was making moves. Kasim Razvi also visited Delhi and Patel where he said that it would be better to die holding a sword than dying by the stroke of a pen. Indian government declared Razvi was a Frankenstein in the company of Nizam in Hyderabad. But for Patel Hyderabad would have become another Pakistan in the heart of India. Probably Nehru would have taken the matter to UNO that would never settle the issue. It would have become a permanent ulcer in the heartland of India. Indian army invaded Hyderabad state on 13 Sept 1948 from four directions. It was called operation POLO and termed Police action. Hyderabad army and Razakars who boasted high collapsed like pack of cards with feeble resistance. Many Razakars were killed in the action. Helpless Nizams army surrendered disgracefully to Indian army on 17 Sept 1948. Kasim Razvi was arrested along with the Deen Yar jung the police chief and many leaders of MIP nad cabinet ministers. Laik Ali the PM of Hyderabad state escaped to Pakistan. Military government under General Chaudhry with some civilian advisors was formed in Hyderabad and it was merged with India
A special tribunal with three judges — one Christian, one Muslim, and one Hindu was constituted to try the accused. Later, the Government withdrew the Aland Murder case for want of sufficient evidence. Askar Yar Jung, a former member of the State Judicial Committee was appointed the defense counsel along with some others to assist him After detailed investigation, three criminal cases were filed against Razvi and six others: the Aland Murder Case; the Shoebullah Khan Murder Case; and the Bibinagar Dacoity Case. At the argument stage, Razvi asked for the removal of the counsels and argued his own case.
Kasim Razvi was convicted in Bibinagar ( It is a small place and is located about 35Km from Hyderabad city on Hyderabad Kazipet railway line) dacoity case and was not found guilty in the case of murder of Shoibullah Khan.. the sentence was passed on 10 sept 1950 and was sentenced for 10 yerasRI. Nizam was pardoned and was Rajpramukh ( governor) of Hyderabad state by the weak kneed Indian government. It was done obviously to appease Muslims. In fact Nizam should have been tried for Misrule and atrocities on Hindus in state and for his failure to control Razkars. But Nizam escaped the punishment and enjoyed in the palace at koti. Kasim Razvi no doubt was handed down much lesser punishment in prison. In fact in any other country he would have faced gallows as a criminal for atrocities committed on Hindus by letting loose Razakars force that he commanded. He should have been subjected to summary trial by a military court and hanged. Alternately he should have been shot by a firing squad on the streets of Hyderabad at Charminar in full public view. Alas! India lacked leaders of that caliber to take such decisions. Razvi was imprisoned at Chanchalguda prison and was subjected to hard labor. Later he represented against the alleged inhuman treatment at the jail and was sent to Pune jail in 1954 where he served his term and was released under the condition that with in 48 hours he should leave the country and leave for Pakistan.
After his release on 11 Sept 1957 he was brought to Hyderabad an young advocate ZahidAli Kameel and he drove him to his house where he held the meeting of his party. Out of 140 members of MIM only 40 leaders attended. He said that he would handover the party to even a twelve year boy . None was ready to takeover the reigns of the party. It was finally handed over to Wahaab Owaissi. The present city MLA Akbaruddin Owaissi, and his elder brother who is an MP are his grandsons. Kasim Razvi left for Pakistan on 18 Sept 1957 and was seen off By ZahidAli Kameel at Bombay and lived rest of his life in Pakistan and practiced law midst of Muslims who migrated from India. They are called Mujahirs.Kasim Razvi was not given any recognition in Pakistan and he was overlooked. He had no political life and he died unsung and unheard a broken and disgraced man on 15January 1970 at the age of 67 years.
The fact that Kasim Razvi was let off with jail term inspite of the fact he spearheaded Razakars, fanned communal hatred and crime on Hindus in the state, is clear indication of weak and appeasement policy of Indian leaders even at the time of partition. They had no courage and lacked spine to hang this person who was squarely responsible for inhuman conduct of Razakars towards Hindu population in Hyderabad state. He really deserved death sentence and nothing short. By letting him off with lesser punishment Indian authorities have insulted the Hindu population of the state who lost lives and honor of women at the hands of Razakars and justice was denied to them. It is sure that their souls are not at rest yet and hover over Hyderabad city crying in despair. Probably letting off Razvi is a greater crime than other crimes committed.

Dear readers,
The Nizam 7 had many titles glorifying him. These are :-
1941-1967: General His Exalted Highness Rustam-i-Dauran, Arustu-i-Zaman, Wal Mamaluk, Asaf Jah VII, Muzaffar ul-Mamaluk, Nizam ul-Mulk, Nizam ud-Daula, Nawab Mir Sir Osman 'Ali Khan Bahadur, Sipah Salar, Fath Jang, Faithful Ally of the British Government, Nizam of Hyderabad and Berar, GCSI, GBE
It is very sad that such a great personality fell to the whims and fancies of a wretched and fanatic criminal Kasim Razvi and became a prey to Razvi. Nizam was an educationist who established the famous Osmania University at Hyderabad and also built many buildings and constructed reservoirs. All these good activities were nullified by his last minute efforts to remain independent and create another Pakistan without realsing the stark realities. The earlier Nizam had excellent Prime Ministers such as Raja Kishan pershand, and Salarjung who guided the Nizam. His father MirMehboob Ali Khan has gone down the history as a very benevolent ruler of the dynasty.None of the fore fathers of the last Nizam faced any allegations of being fundamentalists. The very fact that the State had majority Hindu population it self shows that people were rather happy in the state at earlier times. It is very unfortunate that the educated and accomplished ruler didnot see reason and was clouded by Razvis influence for creating another Islamic state in Indias heartland. He had to face consequences too.His glorious career as a ruler ended in a miserable and undegnified way for which he him self was fully responsible.Although he was made a Rajpramukh a nominal head of state, he knew that it was an eye wash. Subsequently after his resignation in 1957 after states reorganization he became MP twise. He passed away on Feb 24, 1967.

Dear readers,
long live police action and Patel,
The Telangana leaders in the state are demanding that 17 Sept this year be officialy celebrated as the Telangana liberatiion day. the State govt is dilly dallying the demand. The AIMIM MP from Hyderabad ( The Barrister from England) has said recently that more than 1.5 Lakh Musliims were massacred on that day in the state of Hyderabad. Has he forgotten the great atrocities of murders, loot, mass rapes of Hindu women and people in the state at the hands of Razakars done with vengence ansole aim of driving out Hindus from the state. This was very much abetted by the Nizam 7, the great and glorified HisExalted highness Mir Osman Ali Khan Bahadur, Fath Jung, , Nizam ul mulk, Asaf Jhah, KCSI, and it was let loose by the devil incarnate Syed Kasim Razvi prior to police action. This MP was not even born at that time. The old foul smell of Razakar times probably are stil haunting Hyderabad. Kasim Razvi's soul I am sure is not at rest in hell and still hovering over Charminar. For many saddists Razvi must be still a hero who fought for Islam and its glory andsuch guys would go to heavens to enjoy the comforts of heavens.God bless this AP state and people of Hyderabad and Telangana from the saddist pseudo leaders who aremisguiding the gullible masses to create votebanks among minorities.

pNow I can see how history can be twisted to give a virtual view of what one thinks is right or wrong.
Syed Kasim Razvi as I knew him was among the finest and most Allah fearing man I have ever known in my life. For me he was our Baray Baba though we were not related to him. I am a child of a Muhajir and all the Mahajir's called him by that name as "Baba" is used for father or a fatherly figure in Deccan. My father wrote a book about him as he knew very well. My father is deceased now but of course he was aperson who would never lie. In his book he has written about all the atrocities you have mentioned commited on hindus as been committed on Muslims.
Of course I will believe my father as I know for sure who is right.
I beleive when we write about something its our obligation to do the fact finding first, as morally we are obligated to write the truth.

Madam Farah,
You are at liberty to have your own view on Kasim Razvi of Razakar bands. You are surely a Pakistani National. There is no surprise in your views. He settled in Pakistan among Muhajirs and prcaticed law and Pakistan did not care for him. Your esteemed father could have written his book in which he might have glorified the Razvi. He might be his ardent fan. Fact is that he could be an Allah fearing Muslim no doubt and he did what a Jihadi had to do. In the view of Mulsims naturally he was glorified who fought for Islam. The way he inspired Razakars needs condemnation and not glorification. These Razakars committed grave crimes and it is a recorded history. He was tried by court and punished too. The trial court consisted of a Muslim judge too and one can not find fault with the trial.Kindly note one thing. There are scores of Muslims who glorify Bin laden and worship him. They are narrow religious fundamentalist people who can not see any thing other than Islam. Fact is that Bin laden is a grave criminal who is most unislmaic in thoughts and it is worlds view. Kasim Razvi too belongs to the same category and deserved ultimate punishment. You might claim as per book of your dear father that on Mulsims too crimes were committed after police action. If it took place they were out of spontaneous reaction who suffered earlier. But Kasim Razvi deliberately planned Hindu hatred, Jihadi inspiration, spread of fundamentalism, atrocities and got these executed with connivance of Police chief and Nizam 7 with the intention of converting Hyderabad state into an Islamic state. This can not be pardoned. He thus deserves condemnation and he was lucky that he was spared by the court. In any country he would have been sent to gallows or faced firing squad. It is disgusting that you chose to glorify him.It is not surprising. May god bless you.

Dear Mr. Parbharkar Rao,
I understand that you are a true Hindu and would always try twisting the facts as you people have always done, i being a proud grandson of Mujahid-e-Deccan/Sher-e-Deccan Syed Muhammad Qasim Razvi would like to request you to kindly stop lying and to not to try twisting the history, further as far as the role of grandfather Mujahid-e-Deccan/Sher-e-Deccan Syed Muhammad Qasim Razvi in the Pakistan politics is concerned i would like to inform you that he was thrice offered the president ship of Muslim League but he himself never accepted the same, on his demise Mr. Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto the then President of Pakistan who was addressing the UN at that time, as soon as he was informed he requested a silence for one minute which can be checked through the UN records and his words were "Muslims have lost a great leader today", as far as the role of our family in the politics of Pakistan is concerned, Dr.Sarwar Sultana Khan his eldest daughter was an active member of Pakistan Muslim League and contested elections 2 times from Karachi, Mrs. Fauzia Ejaz Khan is a sitting Member of National Assembly and i myself am actively involved with the ruling Pakistan People’s Party, In the end i would like to request you to kindly stop making this concocted stories to gain importance as the history is the witness to all what had happened and by the way the day I get a chance I will also follow the footsteps of my grandfather who was a great leader and will do the same to Hindus as the Razakars did shame on you and shame on the way you Hindus lie.

Nothing more can be expected from a fundamentalist like you.
Dr K Prabhakar Rao
My Dear Mr. Prabharkar,
I thought you were a literate and would respond to my blog in the same manner but to my disappointment i was wrong you have shown the same clildish attitude as your ancestors did during the partition because of which a lot of Muslims lost their lives. As far as the fundamentalist part is concerned why are only muslims fundamentalists, can't a Hindu, Sikh, Cristian etc be fundamentalist, I can even qoute examples like Modi, Advani, Patel and the great followers of Siv Sena arent they fundamentalist. i am proud to be a Muslim and if you say so fundamentalist but i guess you should grow up face the reality and answer like an adult and not cry like a baby.
Mr Proud Grandson of whatever-e-Deccan Syed Muhammad Qasim Razvi, just read your comments once again and judge your own attitude. Dr Rao's reply have literally ripped you apart. And is this what(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVa-VFXWC_8) your Fouzia Ijaz Khan has to say about being a Pakistani ?
whoever is the fucker Razvi has no name in India.Atleast nobody even cares for such assholes in India any more.
reading the blog i realise that Indian govt committed many sins by not hanging Razvi and the bastard Nizam. Thankfully Razvi died unknown and nobody values him even in Pak. Nizam as we know has had 1 lac progeny and even rickshaw wallahs in Hyderabad claim that they are related to Nizam. His will had so many claimants that if each were to be honored they would get Rs 100 each. Makes me wonder whether Nizam had any other task than to fuck women. Mr Rao commendable article and you should educate more people in India. Frankly i never knew of this Razvi stuff. I only know that Sardar Patel did a lions job by taking back the rightful areas of India. He allowed Nehru to commit mistake in Kashmir which is still haunting us till today.
Sir, give me mail of sayyad babar razavi karachi.about new information of Kashim razavi
satishkadam28@gmail.com
Nice one Prabhakar ji.. very articulate and moving.
I thank all the readers who reacted in most positive way.
Good info Prabhakar, but it would be great if you mention how our ancestors retaliated those Porki Razakars.
But Sir, had been that Kasim Razvi sent to gallows, he would have been rated as a hero among muslims for Hyderabad cause. Now he had got an unwept, unsung and un noticed death in pakistan. He was nicely given rigorous imprisonment and hard punishment for 10 years and later he begged Indian Govt to free him and agreed the condition that to leave Deccan forever. He had a beggar's life in pakistan and was doing some legal practice among equally poor mohajirs.
Very well said mr Rao. I saw some one brought in the topic partition. Nehru and gandhi were against partition. It was who Muslim league called for separeate nation, direct action day. So how did hindu act childish, i fail to understand. As someone whose ancesters have suffered wrong actions of razakars and now MIM, it gives me an emmense pain to hear that even Nizam was spared and Rizvi was sentenced only for 10 years. They should have been tried for life for crimes against humanity.

Mr Rao,thanks a lot for educating me about the background of MIM and people like the Owassis. It's now very clear why the likes of him have been behaving in the manner that he has been doing recently. It's no wonder coming from such a notorious background and lineage of the likes of Qasim Rizvi, a Razakar, who had heaped untoward misery, death and rape on a section of the Hyderabad population on the basis of a different religion . I'm amazed why his background is not highlighted in all discourses so that it is evident to all why he behaves in the manner he does.
excellent and highly informative article. Long live Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
The pseudo secular govtof India from time totime ensured that fact aboutRazkars. Nizam, Razvi and police action are suppressed so that general public did not get information. The govt always tried to appease Muslims. Nizam was made the Raj Pramukh a silly title after Police action. Heremained in office till 1956 when Hyderabad state wasbroken into three and AP wasformed. Nizam resigned later. nIzam also contested as MP and won. Obviously all Hyderabad Mulsims would vote forhim. In fact Nizam should have been put in jail after police action. But Nehru developed weak knees.Even today Owaissi brothers have been given long rope instead of punishing them for outrageous communal speeches and anti national speeches. To day TRS is pampering for votes. MIM has been re termed as AIMIM as if it is an all India party. North Indian Mulsims would hate MIM.The wat thngs are goign on in very near future mulsims would again deman another Pakistan apart from Kashmir. Kerala hasalready a Mulsim district that should not have been given. mOpla mulsim rebellion took place in Kerala.Te govt suppreses all information and make people big fools.
Mr Goutham Reddy... Hindus did not liedown during Razkar movement,.Comunist party that was very actice inHyderabad state particularly in Telangana districts such as Nalgonda, Nizamabad and Warangal formed armed dalams ( Squads) to fight the razkars. The villagesrs too formed village protection dalams in many villages. They were armed witholdoutdated matchlocks, muzzle loader guns, spears, swords etc. In may villgaes in Telangana bastions were built during the reign of Kappayya naika in 14 cenury and sardar papanna in 17 and 18 century and they exist even today.Village guards would take look around from the bastions. these bastions are the highest towers in the villgae.Pipe cannons were mounted on these bations. These were locally manufactured and were less effective, but did their job. They could cause accidents too as they were not strong enough. Approach of Razkars could be seen from Bastions and villagers were alerted. However Razkars were also supported by Hyderabad army and armed police. Many times village dalams were out numbered and over powered and Villagers were summarily shot at village squares. Women were made to dance nakedand they were gang raped in open infrontof their men . Later they were shot too. This was regular affair. There are many actions of valor against Razakars. Unfortunately the govt has not published them officially for appeasing Muslims.I posted detials of one such armed action on this blog.
Dear friend, why you are taking Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto,'s name .? He assumed the office of president on 13th August 1971. But Razvi died on 15th January 1970.
Dear Mr. Prabhakar.
Your article is very informative, with a vivid picture of yester years. In those days while i was a child several people used to come to Guntur city who used to narrate their horrifying experiences. as to how women were rapped. and how some womens'breasts were cut and hung in the train compartments, as to how they were looted village after village by the Rajakars. We used to shudder to hear them narrating their woes. These people who used to migrate from erstwhile Naijam were called "Naizam vallu". This all happened when the Nizam was on the throne.
It is really ufortunate that our countrymen always were succeptible to such weaknes to show mercy on the invaders and mercenaries that they have utilised ever such occassion right from Alexander's invasion through the Moghals and British that has resulted in this present scenario and if our people do not realise now atleast God alon has to save india
