RAJA VENKATAPPA NAIKA OF SHORAPUR SAMSTHAN IN FORMER GULBARGA. DISTRICT, PRINCELY HYDERABAD STATE he was the ruler of provincial Kingdom SHORAPUR and belonged to tribal Naik dynasty. Originally thei capital was at Wagengera which was attacked by Aurangzeb and badly damaged. Mughal forces also suffered great losses. Later nails shifted to SHORAPUR, built a fort and made their capital. VENKATAPPA was an infant when his father died and he was put under regent Philips meadows tailor by East India company. the regent brought him up with great care. The prince easterly educated and fluently could converse in English. as he grew up he did not like British interference in states affairs. when sepoy mutiny broke in northern India the prince contacted. Neighbouring rulers to rebel and planted agents in some if the native regiments accordingly. the British agencies kept a track on developments and posted their spies as advisors. the troops of SHORAPUR attacked British forces at SHORAPUR and killed many of them . On advise of an advisor the prince proceeded to Hyderabad to take help from Sakarya Jung the prime minister of Nizam. the prince was arrested immediately and tried and sentenced to life term. However meadows Taylor interfered and after convincing the Governor General the sentence was reduced to four years. He was to to be restored to his position after the jail term. VENKATAPPA Naik and his two waive were on the way to prison out of Hyderabad when the prince shot himself with pistol of his Guard who went out for easing himself leaving the weapon behind.. thus the prince laid his life for liberation of the country from the Englishmen. In 1857.
I am a retired colonel from army and for the last 28 years pursuing career in Engineering education. I am a graduate in Mechanical Engineering and Post graduate in Machine design from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. I have obtained Ph D Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Dr Ram manohar Lohia Avadh University. I am also the recipient of Ph D degrees in Strategic studies, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Religious studies and political Science from other Universities. I have also written and published four books on political Science, education and English poetry. I have published 38 Technical papers in various journals and seminar proceedings. I have also published 950 research articles on line in faithcommons.org and Sanghparivar.org. There are 15 English short stories to my credit. I have published 82 articles on various subjects like strategic studies, history and political science in new Swatantra times published from Hyderavbad. As a professor I guided more than 95 projects at degree level and thirty at PG level. Some candidates are pursuing research under my guidance.I am recipient of Three national awards.
