FRIEDRICH FRAMM
Friedrich Fromm (8
October 1888 – 12 March 1945) was a German army officer. In World War II, Fromm
was Commander in Chief of the Reserve Army (Ersatzheer), in charge of training
and personnel replacement for the German Army, a position he occupied for most of the war. A recipient of the
Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross, he was executed for failing to act against
the plot of 20 July 1944 to assassinate Hitler, thus showing cowardice . When
the plot failed he organised a quick court martial and got four Wehrmacht
officers including Stauffen berg( who placed bomb under Hitlers table) executed
by a firing squad in the compound of his Head quarters. But this action did not
save him. Although k he new about the conspiracy against Hitler he kept quite
and expected high position after the success of army coup. But when the plot
failed he acted as if he had nothing to do with the plot and tried to save
himself. However he was found out and was arrested by Gestapo and he was
executed. .
