ASHOK CHAKRA AWARD DEGRADED SURELY TO PLEAES SOME

Ashok Chakra the highesr gallatry award in peace time has also to be given when extrordinary valour is displayed aginst enemy in peace time. With giving award to ATS chief Karkare who died in operations in Bomaby recently, its relevance has been reduced to lowest level. It is very clear that he had to be honored because he was the chief of ATS and he died. But he died as per reports without firing a bullet while sitting in the vehicle. Does this amount to greatest valor.What happens to many guys including civilians who died in the attack. They were also brave and faced death. How about innumerable police men, BSF jawans and Army men who die annually fighting all types of enemies right from J and K to Nagaland to Andhra Pradesh agasint the Naxals. Are they not brave? They were more braver than Karkare. This is not to underestimate Karkare and belittle his sacrifice, but the award has been diluted as done for Bharat Ratna in recent times. Why it was not given to Police Inspector Sharma who died in shoot out with terrorists at Delhi last year. Why it was not given to Krishna Prasad IPS officer ar Hyderabad who died while fighting terrorists at Hyderabad a decade ago. There are so may like this. How about Major Padma Pani of Kargil and capt Raja Reddy who died in Ja nd K, There could be many JCO too. But they die unsung and un heard because they are lesser souls. There is no doubt that Army itself has strict code for dishing out these war time awards. But at times other considerations ruled roost. The awards dished out for bombay operations are definately are at tangent and people have lost all interests in such awards. As stated in the blogs, most of the guys could have been given saurya Chakra or Sena Medal equivalent. But there are many guys who feel that more the merrier. God bless this lop sided nation and crazy policies

Dishing the awards today is however a big fun

If the guy is a big shot in police uniform
Sure would get a an honour
While the poor soldiers down the ladder
Thrown out duly with dishonour

Karkare was no doubt brave
Who led the team sitting in jeep
The guy got shot plum like a poor duck
When the terrorists shot him with a leap

But the guy is the head of terrorsitr squad
And also wields great clout in midst of heat
He has to be duly given the honor
Although he died sitting in his cozy seat

The awards have lost any relevance
All the civilians died also need them
The guy got the honor without firing a single shot
People have to now swallow their own flum

No one is against karakare
Who was also brave like any guy
The guy got award today
Only because he was from the sky
