MUDDEBIGAL FORT, RAICHUR DIST. KARNATAKA

  MUDDEBIGAL is a Taluka Head quarters town in Raichur district in K arnataka state. The town has grown out of the fort. Ad all streets are highly congested and the fort is completely encircled by the town. At many places houses have encroached onto fort walls too. The fort is nearer to. Rakkasgi. And tangadgi and Tallikota. The famous battle between the confederation armies of D eccan I sultans and Ramarayas forces of Vijaynagar in 1565 was fought in the plains between these three places in which Hindu forces lost the battle due to treachery of Gilani brothers who were generals in Hindu army . Rama raya was killed after he was captured. MUDDEBIGAL fort Must have been a garrison for troops. history of the fort is not known . A. Shrine is located at A Bastion.many structures and walls are in dilapidated condition and none is bothered to preserve the heritage as usual.

Sir, we have similar interests.. visiting every fort, big or small. I too had visited Muddebihal Fort. Your description of the place is accurate.
