ALBERT KESSELRING
He was a German Field marshal in airforce Luftwaffe. He took part in WW I in early years and later acquired higher ranks and commanded forces on Russian front and later in Italian front against Allies. He commanded FM rommel and Afrika corps.He won admiration of the enemies When he fought defensive battle and prevented allied victory in Itlay for full One year.But his reputation was marred later after his death by the massacres committed by his troops in Italy Called Ardeatine cave massacre where 335 Italians were killed in cold blood. After the war, he was called by a British military court in Venice to testify in the trail of his subordinate Gen Anton Dostler who was being tried for shooting members of OSS an allied group commandos. However Kesselring denied any involvement. Subsequently the Dostler was executed by firing squad. Later Kesselring was tried by the British court for cave massacre that he denied. He was given a death sentence that was commuted to life term. Ad was released in 1952 due to strong An d media efforts and got released in 1952. He wrote his memoirs later.After his death in 1960. Strong evidence was unearthed about his involvement in both massacres. As a superior officer he let down his subordinate and committed perjury an un- officer like quality and violation of code of conduct for officer cadre.
