Commander of 18th Army on the Eastern Front, and later of Army Group North. He was tried in high command trial after WW II by US military tribunal at NUREMBERG and he was given 15 years jail term .However Sentence reviewed in January 1951, with no changes. Released in 1952 on compassionate grounds. he died in 1963.
