this is Patrice LUMUMBA of Congo an African nation
which gained freedom from Belgium in1961. He was the first PM of the country. however there were inner struggles and dissidence by his opponents duly abetted reportedly by Belgians and others.He appeared for help from US and UK and when no help came , he turned towards USSR and this was not liked by western powers. Although he was a communist he wanted to stay independent and not aligning with any power.He was arrested and executed by Firing squad at the orders of Mobutu the Chief of Staff just before President Kennedy took over presidency of US. Things would have been different if Kennedy was already in the chair as President.His death was hidden for long and world was told that he died of some ailment. however truth came out soon and there were wide spread protests inUK and USA too. He has become a Martyr and an icon who stood for freedom .
