AFTERMATH OF POLICE ACTION IN HYDERABAD IN 1948

Although police action in sept 1948 termed as operation polo on Hyderabad was a success, the outcomes to punish the culprits was not that serious as expected. the mayhem and murders committed by Razakars under the leadership of the self styled field marshal and crazy fundamentalist Kasim Razvi are deplorable. Bairanpalli massacre in Jangaon province goes to prove the extremity of Razakar actions. Once the state was amalgamated with Indian Union, the interim govt went ahead with judicial process of prosecuting offenders. They specially constituted a trial court with Hon judges from different faiths.
Govt also ordered an enquiry later by Sunderlal committe to enquire into reported army excesses during and after police action.Did the top brass of India expect army to kiss the Razakars and Hyderabad army while conducting military operation against enemies before it decided to order this enquiry after the invasion although called a police action.The report of the committe was kept in cold storage for long and when out dated the report was released. reportedly there was a move to court martial Jn Chaudhry. But nothing happened . He headed military govt as chief administrator in Hyderabd after police action , hammered and suppressed communists who waged armed struggle in Telangana. it is also learnt that Razakars also handed over their weapons to communists before they surrendered. gen Chaudhry was a professional soldier of eminence.he later became army chief too and directed 1965 war against Pakistan which we won.The ruler nizam escaped from life and jail terms although not prosecuted and became the governor of his own state called raj pramukh, he was happy smoking Charminar cigarettes in his palace.Think of Bahadur sha zafar the last Mughal emperor who was arrested , tried after 1857 war and sent away to stay in house arrest in Rangoon in Burma till he was no more.He enjoyed in his king Kothi palace.kasim Razvi was given ten years a lenient punishment. he was not found guilty in the murder of editor of Imroz Shoibullah. Khan . he was convicted in Bibinagar dacoity case.he should have been hanged summarily. Govt developed weak knees. Police chief Deen yar Jung was surely an accomplice to Razvi in his deeds. He kept quiet when razvis Razakars were murdering Hindus.police chief Deen yar Jung was also finally pardoned and released after nearly three years. Reportedly he lived comfortable life later. reportedly he worked for new govt as senior officer. Most of the Razakars who were released and pardoned amalgamated with society in old Hyderabd City and in districts, were members of MIM and lived brooding over loss of Islamic state and rule.old city became the centre for nefarious activities for long years with Muslim ghettos and thus Indian govt lacked will to punish the culprits seriously. False secularism came in between and they looked other way. One of the most tardy thing was escape of Laik Ali the PM of nizam to Pakistan from house arrest. inner moles were there in the interim govt and he escaped. although Nizam stare was amalgamated with India,Hyderabad has become centre for most of the unwanted activities and is a trouble spot against national tranquility.

although Nizams rule was over in Hyderabad, the party of Razakars the Mi M dominated Hyderabd politics for long.Kasim Razvi handed over the party to Wahab owaissi before he migrated to Pakistan. MIM SLIGHTLY AMENDED ITS MANIFESTOS AND WAS ALLOWED TO OPERATE AGAIN AFTER SOME TIME.themuslims enblock joined the party and in every election MIM scored victory in all elections in old city. Wahab owaissi was succeeded by his son sultan salauddin owaissi who played long innings in the party. After his passing away his sons Akbaruddin owaissi and his elder brother became the whole and sole in the. Party and it became a family fiefdom.Once the elder owaissi became MP younger brother is sent to state assembly as MLA.. Although there was some serious resistance some time ago by Mr Amanullah Khan of MBT party I.e Majlis bachao .tehreek , it soon vanished after the death of Amanullah Khan.Occasionally it shows presence in old city and MIM gas become very strong among the Muslims in Hyderabd old city.most of the state govts play cool with the party and try to appease them like the present Ruling TRS party who try to shower benefits on them. sadly the old city has become den for illegal migrants from neighbouring countries., and the trouble makers and criminals take shelter in the narrow landed old city and escape police drag net. Some time ago, police posts were attacked by unlawful elements, encounters took place with police.local rivalry and personal feuds with MIM also resulted in a attempt on life of Akbaruddin owaissi and he was seriously injured very narrowly escaping death. God saved him but he suffers from inner injuries. MIM. Always tried to show its presence every time there is some local problem... the situation is not healthy for a progressive growth of Hyderabad and grief,loss of pride over removal of Nizams rule is writ large on faces of the locals although things can not be rather never can be reversed.

Secondly the govt gas under played police action to passify Muslims who lost an Islamic state in centre of India. just think if such Hyderabad Islamic state materialised, India would gave been in utter chaos facing three Muslim states that too craving for its blood. God thought otherwise in the form of Sardar Patel. but for him police action would not have materialised. J Nehru the PM in 1948 dud not favour such action. but Patel was adamant and he achieved what he wanted..In fact communists of the time played double game too.Their armed rebellion against land lords and govt failed. thanks to the army administration after 1948, most of the communists who took active part in armed struggle gave up and took part in first elections. Over a period communists split into groups and formed CPI, Cp Marxist and CPMarxists and Leninist.. The rebels are now called Maoists instead of naxalites.
the districts of Khammam, Nalgonda, Adilabad, Karimnagar, part of Warangal were strong holds of Maoists. However constant police pressure resulted in their much reduced influence .We might say that people have rejected communism in India and still prefer the democratically formed govts even if they are highly corrupt. National character matters a lot.
