At the closing time of the WWII he escaped into Germany along with the German fleeing troops and thus moved to Germany and in 1952 emigrated to US. Subsequently , he was charged for massacre of locals by the people's tribunal in Romania on the lines of Nuremberg trials under the supervision of allied command. It was claimed that he was present when the massacre took place.but US govt refused to hand over him stating no evidence was available to comply with their request. WASS was a noted Hungarian novelist playwright and poet and received many awards. he suffered ailments in the old age and committed suicide at the age of 90 in America.
