He was a SS
colonel and was the pioneer in
activities of death squads right from the early WW II when Germany invaded
Poland in 1939. He headed a death squad unit and killed more than 160 jews and later he
adopted gasvans and the process
increased rapidly.The first camp for extermination came up. He rose to the rank of Colonel by the end of war. He was killed in action
fighting Red army units just two months before end of WW II.
Johanna langfield was a SS lady
guard and she worked at Lichtenburg. Ravens burg and Auschwitz concentration
camps. Rudolf Hosswas the commandant when she was at Auschwitz.. He found that
Langfield was not co operating with the lady incharge of the women inmates and
he passed orderes that a male incharge was posted to supervise over Langfield
and she was not happy at it. She had medical problems later and she was sent to
hospital for treatment and during her stay she met Oswald pohl at his Hq and
requested him to post her to Ravensburg and it was done . Consequently, she was
dismissed and freed from duties. She went to work in industry outside. After
war she was arrested and imprisoned at a Polish prison and preparations were
made for her trial., However she escaped from prison. It is believed that she
was helped to escape by polish sympathizers in jail as she was highly sympathetic
to polish inmates at the camp. She lived with her sister clandestinely and died
at the age of 73. She did not serve any prison term.
