He served Romanian army earlier from 15 Nov 1939 to 30 April 1943. In 1943 he was conscripted into SS and was trained at Buchenwald. In sept 1943 he was sent to Dora camp and on 05 Jan 1945 was transfered to Klein Bodungen before it was evacuated. On 11 April 1945 he arrivedat Belsen camp . He was arrested by British at 2130 hrs on 16 April 1945.He was tried by Britsih military court at Luneberg in the case of trial of Josef Kramer and forty four others on 17 Nov 1945.He was acquitted.
