PAUL STEINMETZ
He was born in Czechoslovakia. He was with state
railway and was arrested by Germans on 5 Aug 1940 and sent to Buchenwald camp
on 22Aug 1940. On Dec 1940 he was sent to Neuengamme and in March 43 to Drugke
and he reached Belgen Belsen camp on 4 April 1945 and was arrested by British
army when the camp was over run by them . He was tried by the British military
court at Luneberg in the case of JosefKrammer and others in a group of 45
members and was sentenced to 5 years in jail. He was released on 11A uh
1949.His chest number during trial was 20.
PAUL STEINMETZ
He was an electrician at
Auschwitz concentration camp and was arrested by Allied troops of Britain on 17
April. 1945. He contacted typhus and was treated at Glynhughe hospital.He was
declared unfit to stand trial for war crimes after his disability due to typhus
after effects. He was interned at internment camp and released from
civil internment camp in middle of October 1947. He was declared dead in 1997
as of 1980. Thus he escaped punishment for crimes. His chest number in Belsen
trials was 15 and was not prosecuted
