He had a long reign of 50 years. He captured throne after putting his sick father. In custody and eliminating his brothers in battles. He got his eldest brother Dara Shiloh murdered in prison after humiliating him to greatest extent. He wanted to Islamise India and went on relentless campaign. He spent 25 years in South India fighting the Marathas and finally died exhausted at Ahmednagar in 1707 repenting over his misdeeds. His policies and way if working resulted in destruction of the great empire by 1857 in a span of 150 years. during the last hundred years the Mughals were name sake emperors devoid of any empire. Shivaji MAHARAJ carved out an independent Hindu kingdom right under his nose.

Aurangzeb was a complex personality and scholars differ on him greatly. The Islamic scholars praise him as a living saint Titled Zinda peer. For his orientation towards Islam In TOTO, while he displayed great cruelty towards his brothers, and father to capture the throne. He was determined to break Hindu temples and Somnath temple was destroyed after it was renovated. It remained in demolished state till India gained freedom. Mathura and Kashi Temples were vandalised during his period.Limitless number if temples were destroyed during his reign. He was very cruel towards Sambhaji Raje the CHATRAPATHI , don if Shivaji MAHARAJ when he was captured. he was hanged and his body was cute pieces and thrown to street dogs. He was very cruel towards his eldest son who married Abdullah kutubshahs daughter and was destiny editor succeed to Golconda throne. But he was put behind bars till he died because he happened to touch imperial throne at Delhi by his feet inadvertently. He ensured that the Shiite Deccani kingdoms of Golconda and Bijapur were. Destroyed and annexed in 1686. Beautiful paintings in palaces of Bijapur were white washed and destroyed. He dismissed court musicians and artists after he assumed power. He even played very dirty with his son Akbar who revolted against him by forging a letter there by causing rift between Akbar and his associates. He never believed any one and suspected every one. arts and sculpture Nose dived during his reign. He percecuted Sikhs and their Guru Tegbahadur was tortured and executed.At last he died unsung at Ahmednagar in Deccan . I am sure people of India felt happy and relieved at his death. He destroyed his own empire.
