kapayya Naika was the. Cousin brother of a Chieftain of Pratapa Rudra deva the last king of KAKateeya DYnasty at Warabgal. Warangal was devastated by armies of Mohd Bin Tughlaq in the first quarter of 14 century. Although Muslim armies were Defeated several times, Hindu armies were defeated by the Tughlaq armies in a major battle owing to the internal bickerings of some of the chieftains between Velama. And Reddy Chieftains. Warangal was occupied and Rudra Dev was captured and taken to Delhi. enroute Rudra deva. Committed suicide. Warangal was named Suktanpur and placed under governor Malik Maqbool. However Kapayya and his brother along with other chieftains carried on with guerrilla war with Mulim armies . After the death of elder Naika Kapayya became the leader. And after ten long years defeated Muslim armies and they were driven out if Telangana region. Kapayya was chosen SS the ruler at Warangal by the 75 chieftains of Prataparudra deva. Kapayya helped a Muslim Noble against Tughlaq by sending 1500 cavalry. Once the Muslim noble established his kingdom known as Bahamni kingdom attacked Kapayya. however Kapayya made peace with him and handed over an important Fort at Kaulas to Bahmanins. On the home front fissures soon developed between Kapayya. And a Velama chieftain Singama naika I who soon rebelled and established independent kingdom at Pillala marri. Singama Naika was murdered by his enemies and his son Anapotha Naika soon attacked Kapayya Naika assuming Kapayya was a part of the conspiracy. a severe battle was fought at Bheema Varam near Warangal in which Kapayya was killed reportedly by deceit. kapayya said son Vinayaka deva was killed earlier by Mahmudsha I in a battle. The Warangal kingdom was occupied by Velama rulers. Kapayya ruled for 35 years.
