LEONARD. BANNING, BRITISH NAZI, WW II
Leonard Banning (born 1910, date of death unknown) was a British broadcaster of Nazi propaganda during World War II. He left for Germany in 1939 but was held up on the outbreak of WW II. He tried to fly back to UK but was detained by Gestapo. later Gestapo allowed to live freely having learnt that he was a Nazi sympathiser. He worked as Broadcaster for Germans. After war he was arrested by allies and In 1946, he was convicted of offences under the Defence Regulations and sentenced to 10 years' penal servitude. He was born in St Albans, Hertfordshire
