He was a communist leader in Germany and fought against
occupation of Ruhr by France in 1923. Once Nazis took over power he continued
his activities underground. He was a delegate to Moscow for 7 congress
comintemal.He worked for foreign office of KPDin Prague. In 139. he was
arrested during war and confined in Sachsenhausen concentration camp. And at
Falkense. After the war he continued his activities in communist party and Rose
high in the party. He was honorary chairman for the new found Communist party
of Germany in 1971
