FRANZ JAEGGER STATTER
He was born Franz huber.
And was an Austrian farmer. When German troops moved into Austria in 1938 , he
was the only person in his village to vote against Nazis during plebiscite. It
was ignored and suppressed and it was declared that The results were 100
percent in favor of Nazis. Although refused several times, he was called to
army duty at the age of 33 years in 1940 and completed army training. He
returned from military in 1941. He was called again for active service and
after joining he declared conscientious objection to fight for third Reich. His
request to be given duties in Medical wing were refused.He was imprisoned at
once. In spite of some advice from local priests to accept to fight, he refused
to fight the war. He was sentenced to death on the charge of undermining the
military on 6 July 1943 and was guillotined on 9 July 1943. He left. His wife
and tee children. He was beatified by the church subsequently. His ashes were
buried Sanktradegund cemetery.
