She was woman guard at stuthoff SK III woman's camp. She was very brutal and even killed prisoners and selected inmates for gassing. She tried to escape after war , but was caught at railway station Gfansk. She was tried at Stuthoff trial at Denzig and was sentensed to death and was hanged by short drop method on 4 July 1945 at Biskupia Gorak hill. In short drop method the convicts are made to stand on a stool and noose is tightened around the neck of the victim. The stool is then kicked off under the feet and the convict gets killed by sudden drop . The allies erected scaffolds and the victims were made to stand on the tail boards of trucks keeping them flat and heldby chain.. After noose is tightened the vehicles are driven forward there by dropping the victim suddenly snapping the neck spine and killing instantly. At times the scaffold could hang two or three victims at a time one at each side. Barksmann giggled throughout her trail and combed her hair too. she had no remorse and after sentencing she declared Life is full of joy and pleasures to enjoy and Usually the pleasures are short....these hangings were public
