He
was the last camp commandant of sachsenhausen camp during WW II.
Thousands of prisoners were killed in the camp including scores of
soviet prisoners? After the war he was arrested by Soviets when they
liberated the camp. he was tried by another 15
members for war crimes and sentenced to life by the soviet military
court in Berlin. For the first time soviets allowed Public to witness
the trial. At that time there was no death sentence in USSR and thus the
defendants were sentenced to life term with forcedlabour which was latter reduced too. He was
sent to work in USSR coal mines at workout camp on polar sea and in
1948 spring he died along with
another five colleagues
