He was a
veterinarian , scientist and virologist. He was a specialist in foot and mouth
disease, rinderpest and new castle disease.He was the lab chief of bio weapons
facility at Reims island directly under Heinrich himmlers the chief of SS .
after war USA extricated him from soviet zone and he was taken to USA under
paperclip programme. In USA he worked in Bio warfare development From 1949 to
1953 and then he returned to Germany. In Germany he opened a new branch of
loefor Institute for research and headed it from 1953 to 1963. later he worked
in German civil service and retired in 1971. In 1972 he was honored with a
honorary doctorate by Ludwig Maximilian University at Munich for his
outstanding contribution in research. He passed away in May 1985 at the age of
77 years.
