He was a German politician, economist, banker and
administrator during WW II and before. he was the co founder of German Democratic
Party in 1918. He was the president of Reichs bank during Weimar Republic and
continued in he HITLER'S regime.However he differed with Hitler and more with
Goerring over rearmament of Germany . Thus this resulted in his dismissal as
President of Reichs bank in 1939.H ow ever he continued as minister without
portfolio till 1943 when he was permanently dismissed. After the war he was
tried at Nuremberg trials and was acquitted. He died in 1970 at the age of 93
years. In fact the soviets wanted him to be punished as a NAZI criminal , but
UK was in his favor for acquittal and it prevailed.In post war period, he was
an advisor to various Institutions too.
