He was the last camp Dy commandant of Mazdanek
concentration camp in during WW II and was arrested by Soviets after liberating
the camp.He was given the task of destroying all evidence by higher ups, but
Anton was lethargic and the camp was intact when Soviets invaded it. More over, 500
Jews were brought from Lubin for the last minute killing and when they arrived,
the Soviet tanks were at the camp gates. Soviets arrested the staff available
and tried the Dy commandant along with five others Including his deputy W ill
helm Gerstenmeir a captain and hanged them in the camp near crematorium on 3
Dec 1944.This was the first Mazdanek trial. He was of the rank obersturmfuhrer.
