He was an SA official with the
rank Obergruppenfuhrer equivalen to Lt General of army . He survived the night
of long knives in 1934 by pleading with Hermann Goering who left him untouched.
Later, he was shifted to foreign diplomatic service and was sent as ambassador
to independent state of Crotia which Germany recognized. many Serbs were
deported to Germany during His tenure. He was harsh to Yugoslovian partisans.
He was to become reich commissar to a Nazi colony that was to be created by
amalgamating northern Russia and other soviet provinces. however this did not
happen due to reverses on eastern front with Russia. After the war he was
handed over to Yugoslavia by the allies in 1947.The Supreme Court of
yugoslovia tried him and sentenced him to death. he was hanged on 7 June 1947
