UNIFORMED DEFENSE SERVICES ARE TO BE TAKEN CARE OF

Colonel          Dr K Prabhakar Rao (Retd )

Defense uniformed personnel are being let down by our civil servants right from 1947. Jawaharlal Nehru the fist PM of India  with the newly acquired political power with international fame told the first army chief a Britsih General Lt Gen Sir Roy Butcher that he needed no army when a file was taken to him. The General soon left for his native country in 1949 disgusted handing over to C IN C Cariappa. In subsequent years Krishna menon the Defense minister let down army so badly and the country paid very heavily. Chinese war and our debacle has been permanently engraved in black letters in the Dark pages of Indian history after Independence. JN Nehru always was scared of a Powerful army that could engineer a coup. Nehru planned systematic pruning of Indian army step by step.  Pakistan fell to General Ayub Khan  within few years after it got independence.   Sadly Lessons are not learnt yet by our political leaders and all knowing bureaucrats.

Look at the OROP handling by  Jetley and Modiji. Modiji made an election promise and back tracked after winning elections. The veternas had to take to streets at Delhi a shameful episode indeed .The govt tried to break the will of te veternas by letting loose the Delhi police on unsuspecting  Veternas that included men of 80 yeras old, frail and awaiting death in due course. The police men  mman handled the veterans, pulled them down, beat them up , tore shirts, Pulled out medals and abused them, dragged them on floor.  There was  hue and cry. Shamefully finally a senior police officer apologised. Modiji never spoke a word or condemned the incident including the home minister Rajnath singh.

Modi ji implemented diluted OROP which is still to be finalized..Without strong and motivated defense forces, the country will be a big blob and a sitting duck to all and sundry, they may be neighboring powers or determined terrorists organizations.. Pakistan or China will have a walk over with a demoralized Defense services. Sabre rattling by PM or Defense minister or even army chief will not do. Atom bombs and ICBM are not going to save us.Scores of Arjun tanks  that never faced battle or T 90 tanks or array of field guns are not going to save us.Many warships air craft carriers and thousands of fighter planes will not save us from destruction. It is alwayrs man behind machine. Robots can not replace humans although crazy nuts  state that in future wars will be fought by Robots.  why have huge army offlesh and blood and waste money on them. This is not a comic  cinema.  Wars will be real.. Oh political leaders working in AC offices with ( Yes sir .. Yes sir )Jee Huzoori staff ! ..

.wake up and Know this!    Let not 1962 be repeated.Do not be carried away by 1971 war victory. East Pakistan was a trapped fish and defeat was inevitable and they surrendered to Indian army. War on the western front was a stalemate... Although 1965 war was favorable to us , remember Pakistan celebrates it as a victory parade. Gone are the days when Sherman tanks and centurian tanks knocked our Patton tanks causing embarassment to Americans. Let us not be under illusions of vanquishing each and every one.Let us also not be very happy that Chinese threat has been warded off without firing a bullet.Let us not underestimate the enemy and over estimate ourselves and be happy on past laurels.Let us not think that police forces  and paramilitary forces will do the job. They are no match to Defense forces.  They have serious limitations in training, Fire power command. Morale and outlook.

Let us not undermine our own army due to fear that will boomerang.Scores of our officers and soldiers had laid down their lives for the country wihout expecting anything in return ever since 1947. Their blood has flown as torrents in Himalayas, punjab plains, Rajasthan deserts, marshes of Gujrat, Jungles of Nagaland, manipur, etc. Let us not dilute their sacrifices with silly and cheap money saving actions promoted by the civil servants. It is not fair and is surely sinful.

Mr Andrews
You know that India was granted freedom by UK in 1947. India although suffered much under UK also gained much on various fronts. The Englishmen gave India a systematic governing, a disciplined army, modern education , railways and many other things.Just think what Gen Butcher must have thought before leaving India.

Thank you very much for visiting my site and sending greetings
