He was the commandant of
Mauthusen concentration camp and was on most wanted war criminal list of allies
during WW II. Just before the camp was over run by US troops he escaped with
his mistress to his farm house and he was located by US military. When they
tried to arrest him , he tried to escape and he was shot three times and he
received wounds in his stomach. he was shifted to the hospital and he gave a
statement Of confession from his death bed to US authorities and he died. he
escaped trials and sure hanging at the hands of allies.He was earlier promoted
to rank of colonel.
