Dr LEONARD CONTI
Leonardo Conti was the son
of an Italian father from Switzerland and his
mother was a German woman. He was a medical doctor having studied medicine in Germany.
He joined Nazi party and was very active member too. He rose to the rank of
obergruppenfuehrer i.e Lt General. He took active part in T 4 extermination
programme. After war , he was arrested and was awaiting doctors trial at
Nuremberg. He committed suicide by hanging in his cell before trial began.
He was a chemist from industry
of high repute. He collaborated with nazi regime during WWII. He was planning
Monowitz concentration camp a subsidiary of Auschwitz camp..After WW II he was
arrested and charged at Nuremberg byUs military tribunal and sentenced to seven
years in 1948. he was released in 1950 based on his good conduct at Landesberg
prison and restrictions on him were removed.He went back to industry and became
the BoarB member of Bayer AG Which became world famous. he passed away on 27
October 1967.He was on the boards of many industries.
