PISTER HERMANNHe was the SS officer and commandant of buchenwald camp and took over after Koch. He was the commandant from 21 jan 1942 to April 1945. he was of rank O befuhrer i.e senior colonel. He was responsible for holocaust at the camp. As allies troops approached, the commandant ordered sending of camp Jews to dachau camp that was 24 hrs away by  train. However the train carrying Jews in box cars took  three weeks due to allies  straffing  and bombing of areas. many Jews died of starvation, straffing by planes and also by firing at them by the officers. Accompanying them.when the train arrived at dachou many died in boxes. He was tried on 11april 1947 at buchenwaldv trails after the war and sentenced to death.by hanging . but he died of severe heart attack in prison on 28 sept 1948.
