He was the brother of Dietrich Bonhoeffer and was a lawyer. He developed contacts with Nazi resistance group and had many links to the army officers who were prominent in general movement. After the plot 20 July , he was arrested on 1 October 1944. He was tried by people's court on 2 February 1945 and sentenced to death. As Russians were knocking at the east of Berlin, on 22 / 23 April 45 , he was taken by a squad of RSHA who killed him at the exhibition grounds near Lehrer strab prison by shooting on the neck
