He became a Wehrmacht officer of rank captain in 1939 and was posted to poland, France, Russia, Africa and Italy during the war. He was also wounded in war and he earned many medals and badges. In April 1945 about 140 high ranking prisoners were sent. And interned at Tyrol and they were to be executed.by SS. a message was sent to regular German army about this giving details of high ranking officers. And Wichard Von moved- in with his army unit. SS guards having noted that they were outnumbered abandoned the place and escaped. The prisoners were freed by the German army unit and they were liberated by U.S. Army unit. Wichard Von was freed by allies and he served in civil society in various capacities and passed away.
