She was the daughter of a Russian couple who fled from
Russia to Germany and she was born in Germany. Her father died early and. The
mother remarried Berkowitz who adopted her. She was fluent in German and
Russian languages. She formed a
group and associated with Red orchestra Nazi resistance group. She
marriedcFriedrich rehemer. She was arrested on 26 Sept 1942. Her husband
suffered serious injury on eastern front and was hospitalized. He was arrested
in hospital on 29 Nov 1942. On 18 Jan 1943 she was tried by people's court
along with others and sentenced to death. She gave birth to a girl on 12 April
1943. Although the court appealed to Hitler to give her reprieve, it was
sternly refused by Hitler and she was executed on 5 Sept 1943 At Plotzensee
prison. She was just 19 years old. the baby girl was looked after by her grand
mother but she also died early in infancy. Her husband was already executed on
13 May 1943.
