He was a German Army  General during WW II and was a commander and later a staff officer. He took over as chief of army personnel office and was also the adjutant to Hitler. He played key role in the forced suicide of Erwin Rommel. At the end of battle of Berlin, he committed suicide on 2 May 1945 after the death of Hitler in his bunker
