He was a German evangelical theologian and
CDU politician.He took part in 20 July plot and was arrested after the failure
of the plot along with others. he was tried and sentenced to seven years hard labour. He hardly spent few months in prison and he was liberated by US troops. In post war
period he was the president of Bundestag from 1954 to 1969.
